I’ve been writing a lot lately, music and lyric wise and I had a really interesting conversation with my sister a couple of days ago.
A little background information, when I was 17 I really wanted to study Etymology, but the only university you can study it on as an undergrad in Ireland is let’s say…fucking terrible. Basically though, who doesn’t fucking love words? Words are great. Serious amount satisfaction just gathering knowledge and being able to express it in a curlicued manner. I could only dream of studying the origins of them. If I could only be so lucky.
Essentially the conversation was about how there are so many dead words in the English language. They’ve been slaughtered by our generation that is so excessive in what they say and do that the extent of what it actually means has begun to lose it’s meaning.
